With more than 35 years of experience in biopharmaceutical services and consulting, Paula helped build the contract research organization (CRO) industry and the preeminent CRO in the industry, Quintiles. Her career at Quintiles culminated in serving for five years as president of clinical development, Quintiles largest business segment. She is currently managing director of Habergeon and chief executive officer and Chairman of Novan, a North Carolina-based pharmaceutical company. Lisa is currently Managing Director of Habergeon, and President and CEO of PurThread Technologies, an antimicrobial textile company. Lisa co-authored Remember Who You Are: Achieve Success. Create Balance. Experience Fulfillment. with Paula Brown Stafford. Lisa also serves as managing director of Lead Wholly (www.leadwholly.com), an executive peer group experience that encourages women to lead with their whole selves.

Andrew Novak is a senior financial and accounting leader with nearly two decades of corporate finance experience in public accounting and publicly-traded life sciences organizations. Currently, Andrew provides accounting and finance advisory services to life sciences companies as an independent consultant. Over the past 7 years and until June 2023, he served in various financial leadership roles at Novan, Inc., a publicly-traded development stage pharmaceutical company, including Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to joining Novan, from 2014 to 2016, Andrew was Director of Financial and SEC Reporting for Scynexis Inc., a biotechnology company. He began his career in Deloitte’s external audit practice in Raleigh, NC, serving in various roles from 2005 to 2012 including as Audit Manager, and also served as a Technical Manager, Accounting & Audit Publications at the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) from 2012 to 2014. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Claire spent her 36+ year career as a Human Resources leader, the last 22 years as a member of the executive leadership team with Pepsi Bottling Ventures, a billion-dollar joint venture company owned by Suntory and PepsiCo.  Here she was most fulfilled doing M&A work, using her talent as a hands-on advisor to the executive team, bringing leadership vision to life, leading integrations, and crafting lasting legacies for the organization. 

 

In 2022 Claire felt led to start a new chapter in life and “retired” from her corporate job and participated in the Halftime Carolinas Roundtable where she was able to evaluate and identify who she would become in her second half.  Through the Roundtable she determined that her gifts are leading projects for strategic HR vision, transformations, and integrations; connecting with and coaching executives, emerging leaders, and young professionals to help discover and engage their gifts and life’s passions for career success and enrichment.  

 

Claire and Chris have lived in Raleigh, NC for nearly 25 years, have been married for over 35 years and have 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and one exceptionally beautiful granddaughter.  Claire enjoys music, travel, cooking, interior design, and entertaining. 

Paula Jo Butler is a clinical research professional with over 36 years of clinical research experience. Her career began at Quintiles in the biostatistics department, where she served as lead biostatistician, project manager and operations manager. She has managed Phase II-IV projects, programs and strategic customer alliances. Paula also helped form and led IQVIA’s Global Project Management Office which was responsible for developing and maintaining procedures, systems, training and tools, and facilitating project resource management and project issue resolution. Most recently, Paula led the Risk Based Monitoring (RBM) project management support team, where she played a key role in optimizing RBM processes, training and systems, and was a leader in the Association of Clinical Research Organization (ACRO) Risk Based Quality Management (RBQM) working group. Paula has a passion for problem solving, process optimization and change management. She has extensive experience designing and evaluating clinical trial management systems. Paula holds a bachelor of science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Biostatistics from Boston University. She and her husband have four children.

Ron Carson is a customer-centric B2B marketing executive with over 25 years of experience driving growth for companies across diverse markets. A finalist for CMO of the Year in 2023 and a CMO to watch in 2024, Ron champions a “just ask” approach to uncover blind spots throughout the customer journey, building lasting relationships.
As the Founder of Thirdside, a customer research agency, and recently as CMO at Terra Dotta, Ron has been at the forefront of addressing customer acquisition and retention challenges. His innovative, research-driven approach has helped clients engage more effectively with their markets, leading to a tripling of revenue at Terra Dotta in just three years.
Ron believes that in an increasingly automated world, genuine human conversation is a company’s greatest differentiator. He advocates for marketers to resist the allure of the latest marketing hype and instead engage in candid dialogue with customers, who will themselves reveal how to market and sell to them.
Recognized as an agile thought leader skilled in change management, Ron is an active contributor to the marketing and entrepreneurship community through speaking, mentoring, and advisory board roles. He holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
