Even with perfectly prioritized to-do lists, color-coded calendars, and meticulous attention to detail, we should never dismiss our gut instincts. We need to consider tossing the whole plan out the window if we sense something amiss. Sometimes we might not be able to clearly articulate – even to ourselves – what’s up, yet we have this gut feeling inside that continues to lurk.
Like an interview of a person everyone else is raving about but something simply isn’t lining up in your mind – er, your gut. We’ve likely all been there – being persuaded to go along with the group’s consensus because we can’t point to an exact issue. And nobody else seems to share our feeling. It’s our gut instinct. And years – sometimes weeks or months – later we, often along with our peers, all regret not having listened to our gut. So next time your gut speaks to you, listen. Share your instincts with your boss and your colleagues. At a minimum, discuss these feelings to see if anyone else was waiting for someone to speak up. You might be surprised when you hear I had that feeling too.
